You can read an abstract of this article at Multiple Sclerosis International Federation I had seen the abstract on the iron deficient mice being resistant to EAE. I don't know much about the ins and outs of iron nutrition. It certainly suggests that iron supplementation is not a good idea. Overall I would suggest persons with MS should try to keep their iron levels in the lower half of the normal range. Iron levels below the normal range may (and this is a big may) be of benefit for MS but it would very likely have a number of adverse effects. I expect if one restricts red meat their iron level may well be low normal. It is always worthwhile getting your iron level checked every so often. Ashton Embry
