The Tenth Anniversary ASICS British 10K Sunday 11th July With the weatherman promising extreme heat it wasn’t exactly ideal conditions for the thousands of runners descending on London. But lady luck shone upon us and with a cooler start to Sunday 11th July, 17 MSRC runners sacrified their Sunday morning lie in to join the 10th anniversary of the asics British 10K. The British 10K takes places through the streets of London, passing world famous sites such as Big Ben, St. Pauls Cathedral, Tower Bridge, St Pauls Cathedral, the London Eye, Westminster Abbey and perhaps more significantly the MSRC cheering point! Armed with our MSRC rapper clappers and balloons, we stood at the cheering point ready to find our runners in the 26,000 strong crowd. One by one they easily came through the 2K mark, clearly all the training had paid off. We can happily report all our runners finished with impressive times and we even had a couple of personal bests.
Having finished the run most of the runners met up in St James Park for a post race discussion and a much deserved cold beer.
For some runners this was the milestone they had trained and fundraised for; for others this was a start to a longer campaign. Many had such a good day that they were ready to sign up for the 2011 run before they had even collected their medals! With over £6,000 raised so far our runners clearly put as much effort into their fundraising as well as their training and we can’t say thank you enough to them.
