Date: December 4th and 5th 2010 Location: Aldershot The GRIM Challenge is no normal cross country course! It has offered TeamMSRC something a little bit different. The eight mile, multi terrain course promises all the usual mud, trails, hills, camouflage netting and their famous waist high puddles but for 2009 the GRIM organisers decided to introduce a new obstacle for good measure – ‘The Big Dipper Sand Dune’!
Rather muddy at mile four John Gladwin the race director says “The race is aimed at anyone who wants a different type of challenge on a weekend… It is a great race for beginners. I’m sure the guys at the front of the race will battle it out for honours but for the majority, this is just about finishing and having a good time.”
David taking part in his first GRIM Challenge The GRIM Challenge continues to go from strength to strength each year. This was the second year that MSRC went along to the Aldershot based event to cheer on their ‘TeamMSRC GRIM Warriors’. The event most certainly didn’t disappoint! With a week of heavy rain before the GRIM Challenge was due to take place, everybody was prepared for the worst, however for a second year in a row the sun shone over the GRIMMERS. Nevertheless, this didn’t stop them from getting very muddy and very wet.
GRIM-tastic The GRIM atmosphere is in a league of its own. The crowd are very supportive and if a runner falls over they’re not short of fellow runners helping them back up to their feet. The GRIM is a great event to participate in and is equally great for spectators.
Holding each other up! “We had a great time… See you next year” - The Super Barnes’s, running for MSRC Congratulations to all of our 2009 runners you all did a sterling job in representing MSRC!

And remember there is an old GRIM saying: “If it looks bigger than a puddle, then it is!”
