    Assistant MS Advisor Position

    Part Time, Mon, Weds & Fri 9am -5pm
    Salary £16k pro rata

    Main Purpose of the Job:

    To provide a thorough and practical advisory service to individuals with MS and their families and carers. To liaise with and refer issues as appropriate to other agencies.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • To train as an MS Advisor and to build on knowledge of MS.
    • To provide extensive advice, support and empathy to people affected by MS by telephone, email, letter or face to face.
    • Keeping professional information up to date.
    • Maintaining and updating the MS Choices leaflets when necessary.
    • Assisting to maintain the MS FAQ’s
    • Providing back-up when other members of the team are unavailable.
    • To attend conferences/seminars/fundraising events where appropriate.

    Skills: A good ability to research, essential - Medical background, desirable.

    IT literate: with good experience of Microsoft Office software - Essential.

    General: A good ability to work flexibly as part of team, using own initiative where appropriate.

    Prior knowledge or experience of MS desirable - training will be given.

    Counsellor/MS Advisor Position

    Full Time, Mon – Fri 9am -5pm
    Salary £18k per annum

    Main Purpose of the Job:

    To provide counselling services and MS Advice for the charity.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • To co-ordinate the counselling service
    • To develop online emotional support to enhance our services
    • Responsible for counselling phone calls and visits to our offices.
    • To train as an MS Advisor/to build on knowledge of MS.
    • To assist the MS Advice Supervisor in keeping information up to date.
    • To attend conferences/seminars/fundraising events where appropriate.

    Skills: Qualified Counsellor (minimum 3 years experience) - Medical background, desirable.

    IT literate: With good experience of Microsoft Office software - Essential.

    General: A good ability to work flexibly as part of team, using own initiative where appropriate.

    Prior knowledge or experience of MS desirable - training will be given.
